Avebury is the site of a Neolithic stone henge, a ring of large stones, somewhat of a cousin to Stonehenge on the Salisbury Plain.
Historians know very little about the people who configured these stones;just that they lived a very long time ago, about 3000 BCE.
These henges are among the oldest remnants of civilization on the earth. The site is part of England's National Trust, a system which preserves national and historical sites.
Avebury includes refurbished buildings that were built much more recently than the henges, a museum and one of Jeremy's favorite restaurant's in the world.
